Parking Services
Day use and overnight parking is available at several SMART stations. These parking services are a convenient and economical choice for commuting daily and for embarking on longer leisure trips, such as weekend getaways or vacations.
Day Use Parking
Day-use parking is complimentary at these SMART station parking lots during the hours of 4:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Recreational vehicles (RV) are not permitted.

Overnight Parking
SMART riders can park overnight at the following train station parking lots for the flat-rate of $5 a night. Overnight parking is from 12:00 a.m. to 3:59 a.m. Payment for overnight parking is made through the ParkMobile app and overnight parking may be booked for up to 5 nights at a time. Use the unique zone number located at the entry of each SMART parking lot. Overnight parking is first come, first serve. Recreational vehicles (RV) are not permitted.

Overnight parking provided by cities is available at the following stations, subject to a 72 hour maximum time limit. Recreational Vehicles may be prohibited by local ordinances.

- San Rafael Downtown (Caltrain's lot, under the highway)
Recreational Vehicles (RV)
Recreational vehicles (RV) are not permitted to park in any SMART owned parking lots. Vehicle removal costs will be at the owner’s expense.

How To Locate Your Parking Citation
Search for your citation online
- You may search by Citation number or Notice number.
- Your citation number is located on the original ticket or on the Notice of Parking Violation.
- To search by Citation number, you will need both Citation number and time of violation. YOU MUST INCLUDE THE TWO LETTERS BEFORE THE CITATION NUMBER - "SM"
- To search by Notice Number, you will need the Notice number (located on Notice of Parking Citation) and the 5-digit Zip Code.

Payment Plan Options (California State Legislature AB 503, AB 2544 “indigent”)
Definition of Indigence
A person is “Indigent” if they meet any of the following conditions:
- The person receives public benefits from any of the programs listed in subdivision (a) of Section 68632 of the Government Code.
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- California Work Opportunity (CalWorks)
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamps)
- County Relief, General Relief (GR) or General Assistance (GA)
- Cash Assistance Program for Aged, Blind and Disabled Legal immigrants
- In-Home Supportive Service (IHSS)
- Medi-Cal
- The person meets the income criteria set forth in subdivision (b) of Section 68632 of the Government Code.
- Section (b): An applicant whose monthly income is 125 percent or less of the current poverty guidelines updated periodically in the Federal Register by the United States Department of Health and Human Service.
Proof of Indigence
The person may demonstrate that he or she is indigent by providing either of the following information, as applicable:
- Proof of income from a pay stub or another form of proof of earnings, such as a bank statement that shows the individual meets the income criteria set forth in subdivision (b) of Section 68632 of the Government Code.
- Proof of receipt of benefits under the programs described in subdivision (a) of Section 68632 of the Government Code. Proof of receipt will consist of a copy of the most recent Verification of benefits form, Notice of Action (Approval) Letter or Award Letter
**If person has no income or does not receive Public Assistance, a copy of their yearly earnings from the Social Security Department is required for proof**

How do I contest a parking citation?
You may contest your citation within 21 days from the date the citation was issued. You can do so online or by following the instructions on the back of the citation. For more information on how to contest a parking citation, please visit the Citation Processing Center website.
