to repair railroad crossing near junction with Highway 121 at Sears Point

Petaluma, CA—The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District (SMART) announced today that SMART contractor Stacy and Witbeck will close State Highway 37 to reconstruct the railroad crossing near the junction with Highway 121 at Sears Point on Saturday, May 20, at 3:00 AM and will reopen on Sunday, May 21, at 11:00 AM.

Highway 37 crosses the railroad tracks near the junction with Highway 121 at Sears Point. Due to heavy vehicle traffic and usage, this railroad crossing requires significant repairs, including reconstruction of the subgrade and the railroad track.

Detour details:

  • Highway 37 will be closed immediately west of Noble Road and immediately west of the railroad tracks near Sears Point.
  • Travelers driving westbound will be required to take Highway 29 to Highway 12, then take Highway 121/Arnold Drive to Highway 37.
  • Travelers driving eastbound will be required to take Highway 121/Arnold Drive to Highway 12, then take Highway 29 to Highway 37. Westbound drivers can also continue on Highway 12 to Interstate 80.

Multiple detour signs and advance warning changeable message signs will be placed along Highway 29, Highway 12, Highway 121/Arnold Drive, and Highway 37 approximately two weeks in advance of the road closure.
