SMART makes additional schedule changes amid statewide Shelter in Place Orders

Petaluma, CA—In response to changes in ridership demand resulting from what are now, statewide Shelter in Place orders, the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) District is making additional changes to its train service schedule.

 

SMART is committed to serving riders who rely on public transit to conduct essential business and access vital resources such as healthcare, pharmacies and grocery stores. SMART will continue to provide train service and will make schedule adjustments as necessary in order to respond to ridership patterns and demand. You can find the current train schedule online at SonomaMarinTrain.org/schedules-fares, and a printable temporary schedule.

The following changes are effective Monday, March 23, 2020 and will remain in place until further notice:

Temporarily cancelled trains:

  • Southbound 6:38 AM out of the Sonoma County Airport station
  • Northbound 8:14 AM out of the Larkspur station
  • Southbound 9:18 AM out of the Sonoma County Airport station

Temporarily ADDED trains:
To ensure adequate afternoon service, SMART is adding a midday train that will depart from the Sonoma County Airport at 1:49 PM.  Below is the schedule for this added train trip.

Santa Rosa North  1:56 PM 
Santa Rosa Downtown 2:00 PM 
Rohnert Park 2:08 PM
Cotati 2:11 PM
Petaluma Downtown 2:26 PM
Novato San Marin 2:38 PM
Novato Downtown 2:41 PM
Novato Hamilton 2:49 PM
Marin Civic Center 2:55 PM
San Rafael 3:01 PM
Larkspur 3:08 PM



These train cancellations are in addition to the following train cancellations that went into effect earlier this week:

  • Southbound 7:10 AM out of the Sonoma County Airport station 
  • Northbound 8:46 AM out of the Larkspur station
  • Southbound 4:29 PM out of the Sonoma County Airport station 
  • Northbound 6:05 PM out of the Larkspur station
  • ALL WEEKEND service is cancelled

Trip Planning:  Other transit agencies have modified their service schedule as well during the Shelter in Place order. Be sure to check the websites for all the transit services you use in order to ensure you have updated schedule information or visit 511.org.
