Windsor Station | Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit

Windsor Station

Located just steps from the Windsor Town Green, the new station opened for passenger service on Saturday, May 31, and enhances access to one of Sonoma County’s most beloved community gathering places—making it easier than ever to enjoy Windsor’s shops, restaurants, and events by train. This latest addition to the SMART rail and pathway network strengthens local and regional connections while advancing sustainable transportation.

Windsor Quiet Zone and Service

At the request of the Windsor Town Council, SMART temporarily suspended three early morning weekday southbound trips departing from Windsor pending the establishment of a Quiet Zone in Windsor.

On Monday, August 4, 2025, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) approved the Town of Windsor's Quiet Zone.

Effective Tuesday August 5, 2025, the southbound trips that were temporarily suspended will resume:

  • Trip 1 - departing at 4:35 AM
  • Trip 3 - departing at 4:58 AM
  • Trip 5 - departing at 5:30 AM

With the Windsor Quiet Zone now approved, routine use of the train horn at designated crossings in Windsor will be discontinued starting Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

SMART engineers will continue to sound the train horn in emergency or safety-critical situations—such as when people, vehicles, or construction crews are on or near the tracks—or when required by SMART’s operating rules.
