San Rafael - Civic Center

This station is located on the west side of Civic Center Drive, just east of Merrydale Road. It will bring the SMART train to within walking distance of one of Marin County's largest employers - the County of Marin - as well as several other large office buildings. The station can also serve the on-going Farmers Market events and the annual Marin County Fair. A total of130 parking spaces are proposed for this station.

San Rafael Downtown

Two station design options are included in the Final EIR for downtown San Rafael. Both would locate the station along the tracks just west of Hetherton Street, between Third and Fourth streets and just north of the Bettini Transit Center, a major regional hub for bus transit. The more compact design would have the boarding platforms between a bank on the east side of the tracks and the Whistlestop Depot Café on the west. The second design would include the acquisition of the bank property to expand station facilities and provide better access between the train and bus facilities. Although no new parking is proposed at this station, the station is within walking distance from the Caltrans park and ride lots located under Highway 101.
